Kids for Africa Sports Academy Uganda believes that the power of sports in a child’s life can make a lasting impact, and often access to quality education is the only thing that can lift a child out of the poverty circles.
According goal number two of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which project to achieve the Universal Primary Education, This was a theme to increase access to quality primary education of all children in developing world hence both girls and boys. (UPE) was introduced in Uganda by 1997 and dramatically increased primary school enrolment and continues to reduce inequalities in access to education relating to gender, income and location. It has also increased the probability that children start primary school on time. Dropout rates and grade repetition remain high however and it is unlikely that all Ugandan children will be able to complete the full course of primary schooling.
But however this shall not mask the fact that many children in Uganda still have no access to quality education. Therefore, looking for answers to bridge these gaps was such a good thing to do by KIDS FOR AFRICA and this has being a turning point to create opportunities for the most vulnerable children to access quality primary education. Elvis is one of the children in the project who has lived a very difficult life after being abandoned by his father. He joined the project in 2013 and his life been changing over the pasted years. Luckily enough, his performance in class is so brilliant and next year he will be sitting his primary leaving examination and we can’t wait to see him processing to secondary school life.
A way forward has been achieved to increase confidence and self-esteem among our volunteer coaches where by in the beginning of this month, Coach Marvin and Raymond were invited and attended two weeks elementary (beginners) youth coaching course that was organized by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in conjunction with Improving lives Uganda (IMLU). This was a time for learning new technical and tactical methods of youth soccer coaching and some of the best ways of proper handling of children with different behavior changes. We hope to see them progressing in other coaching levels and this will impact our coaches to be the best in Uganda and to produce quality performance of work.
