The Barefooted Champions

The Barefooted Champions

We believe that we can play despite the fact that we don’t have boots, the game we play will heal our hearts and one time, we will have boots and sports kits to explore what we call talent.

UNESCO states that every child has the right to education and the right to play. The role of kids for Africa is to bring both of those basic needs together to create a groundbreaking experience for Ugandan children, thus leaving a lasting impression.

Uganda as a country in the East of Africa is ranked under the poor countries in the world where most of its people live and survive on 1.25$ percent, but we believe that in Uganda it is more important to build community, create team-work, foster creativity and reinstate the ability to dream so that the seeds sown are local, organic and sustainable while leaving other factors constant.

We acknowledge the commitment that our volunteer coaches are impacting towards facilitating and bridging up the gap between the rich and poor. Sometimes we look at the situation and condition of operation but we can’t stop, but we got to understand why the situation is like that. Playing barefooted is not a crime, but realistically you are putting your feet in an attractive situation for this sloppy stony ground to harm you seriously.

A soccer boot in Uganda can cost around 50,000 to 80,000shs that’s 23$. But one could not afford to purchase a boot because he/she does not know how to sustain and survive the next day. Therefore we have been able to take on training sessions with the children although they are don’t have boots and it has been tough time because if one comes today and get a cut or injury on the foot, he won’t return back the following day, more over scaring away others according on how big the cut is.

However this couldn’t limit kids for Africa from becoming champions and participate in competition against other schools and teams. Warningly the under 9 and 14 boys won the Kampala Elite tournament and become the district champions where our boys played the games with borrowed boots. How interesting and amazing?
In conclusion, much appreciation goes to all who try to donate their contributions towards the academy. We really need your help more than ever and we pray for that you to have an everlasting live.
